Construction began during the Jingming and Zhengshi periods of the Northern Wei Dynasty in the Southern and Northern Dynasties (500-512 AD). The main buildings are arranged in a "field" shape, facing south with the central axis as the main line and the two sides symmetrical. The main buildings within the temple include the Yuxiang Pavilion, Lingxiao Gate, Sanshan Gate, Feishi Palace, and the main hall, Dening Palace.
